How to Volunteer

Our Book Sale Committee could always use a helping hand.

If you would like to join the team, simply indicate your preference when filling out the Library’s Volunteer Application Form.

Tasks include:
Moving Materials:
Donated items need to be moved into storage until the time comes to move them out of storage for display in our sales. If you can handle lifting medium to heavy loads, this may be the task for you.

Sorting Materials:
Once on display, we sort our materials by genre so everyone can find that cherished book, audiobook, music, movie, or puzzle they’re looking for. If you like to organize, this is the task for you.

Staffing a Shift at a Sale:
During the Spring and Fall Book Sales, the Committee schedules volunteers to work short shifts answering questions and completing sales. If you are good at making change and small talk, this may be the task for you.

Questions or concerns, contact the Library Volunteer Coordinator, Theresa Osborne, at [email protected] or 315-789-5303 ext. 104

The Balcony Bookstore

Shoppers may head to the Library’s Reference Floor during operating hours to peruse books on sale year-round. This smaller space is restocked and sorted by the Book Sale Committee weekly, so there will always be new options to choose from!

Bi-Annual Book Sales

Using your material donations, the Book Sale Committee puts together a large sale in the library twice a year. These sales may encompass not just books, but audiobooks, music, movies, puzzles and more.

Our Fall Book Sale will take place from September 19 to 27.
