Questions & Answers

When and where will the library vote be held?
The vote will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 11 am to 8 pm at North Street Elementary School, 400 W. North St., Geneva, in the mini-gym.

Who can vote?
Any Geneva City School District resident who is a registered voter is eligible to vote. Geneva City School District residents 18 years of age or older may register to vote.   Qualified individuals can register to vote for the Library tax levy by mail or in person at the Ontario County Board of Elections, 74 Ontario St, Canandaigua.

What are we voting for?

  • Budget: The public will be voting on a proposition to collect property taxes within the Geneva City School District to fund Fiscal Year 2025-2026.  The library tax and expenses are not part of the school district’s budget. The district’s Board of Education decides whether to request a tax increase for their own school budget.
  • Trustee: The public will be electing one new library board trustee. The trustee will serve the remainder of a five-year term, which commenced on July 1, 2023, and will end June 30, 2028. Trustees play a crucial role in overseeing the library’s finances, advocating for its services, and shaping its policies. To learn more click here.
